On Monday, The lawmakers in Peruvian voted overwhelmingly to President Martín Vizcarra, from office due to alleged corruption accusations and his handling of the Pandemic.

Vizcarra announced that he would not fight the relegation, while annalist reproved the decision made by the legislature, describing it as a risky power grab in a country where Martin Vizcarra is highly favoured and the congress is not 105 senators, far more than the votes needed to oust him from office, backed the decision to remove the president.

It was revealed that many voted for the removal due to the loved ones they lost. Lawmaker Robinson Gupioc during a debate said he blames Vizcarra for the death of thousands of citizens, due to his negligence and incapacity.

According to reports, Peru is said to have the world’s highest per capita COVID-19 mortality rate and at a risk of facing a serious recession. This impeachment decision came after an allegation arose accusing Vizcarra of getting more than $630,000 over two construction projects when he was a governor in 2011-2014.

However, his supporters questioned the accuracy of the claim, stating that the construction managers are also accused of being corrupt. In a statement by the president, he said he would not challenge the removal vote as he would act in the best interest of his people and the nation democracy.

He said ‘Today I am leaving the government palace and Today I am going home.
