As the 2023 general elections draw closer, the Chairman of the Katsina State Chapter of the major opposition, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Salisu Majigiri, has debunked claims that the party has no leadership structure in the state.

Majigiri who said this while speaking in an interview with reporters was reacting to claims made by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, through its Funtua Zonal Vice-Chairman, Bala Musawa.

Musawa had in a recent interview with reporters in Katsina, claimed that the PDP has no leadership in the state, following the judgement by the state’s High Court that dissolved the state’s congress, and urged Majigiri to stop parading himself as the party’s chairman.

The reaction by the Katsina State chapter of the PDP is based on the case instituted by some aggrieved members of the party, following the outcome of the state’s congress held.

Majigiri in response said though the party is having what he termed, internal family issues, he assured the ruling APC in the state that all issues will be resolved before the 2023 general elections as the matter is before the Appeal Court.

On the entitlements of the sacked elected local council officials who were to spend two years in office, but ended up spending nine months, as a result of the dissolution, have 15 months entitlements to be paid, following the Supreme Court ruling.

The Chairman stressed that none of the affected parties have been paid, debunking claims made in some quarters, that the party is demanding that the entitlements be paid through it.

According to him, lawyers of the affected beneficiaries have written to the state government over the issue and that the state government has till August 31, to clear the debts, and transmit prove to the Supreme Court.

Majigiri is also hopeful that the party will reclaim its mandate in Zamfara State, following the defection of Governor Bello Muhammed to the APC, due to the circumstances that produced him as the Governor of the state which will be decided through the case in court.

On the state of the nation, the Katsina PDP boss called on Nigerians to do the needful come 2023, describing them as being wiser and more informed, as he is optimistic that the party will bounce back to power in 2023, especially with developments across the country.
