The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has condemned what it describes as “the wicked clampdown” on its members, after the arrest of former Benue State governor, Gabriel Suswan.

The former Benue state governor was reportedly arrested by the Department of State Services, over his alleged connection with the crisis in the state.

At a press conference in Abuja, the Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the arrest of Suswam was an attempt to prevent him from participating in a political meeting scheduled to hold soon in the North-Central part of the country.

The PDP described the alleged attacks, threats and intimidation of influential Nigerians as a sign of President Buhari’s fear of defeat in the 2019 general elections.

Citing an earlier alarm raised by former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, over alleged plans by the Federal Government to frame him, as well alleged plots to humiliate the senate president and other members; the party said the world was watching the unfolding drama by the Buhari administration.
