Brazil’s COVID 19 death toll has surpassed 20,000, after the country recorded 1,188 deaths from The virus in a 24 hours span.
The country’s Ministry of Health made this announcement on Thursday 21st of May. The summation of 1,188 deaths totalled the death toll to 20,047.
Brazil has now confirmed 310,921 cases of the virus. The number of active cases in the country as of Friday 22nd of May is 164,879.
Despite the soar in the number of confirmed cases and the increasing deaths, Jair Bolsonaro, the President of Brazil continues to pressurize the state Governors to relax the lockdown and reopen the country’s economy.
