Ortom’s Aide, James Anbua escapes assassination

The Principal Special Assistant to the Governor of Benue State on Government House Administration, James Anbua, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at his country home, Tse-Girgi, Mbavuur, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

Anbua, who confirmed this in a statement, said the assailants who numbered five, came to his residence at about 1 am shooting sporadically.

He said the policemen in his house repelled the gunmen but they succeeded in stealing his cattle and sheep.

It was also learnt that the attack is coming barely 10 hours after Anbua gave out his daughter in marriage traditionally in his country home.

The State Police Command’s Spokesperson, Catherine Anene, also confirmed the unfortunate incident saying the combined efforts of the police and other security agencies repelled the attackers and they were unable to complete their mission.

“Some of the suspects have been identified and will definitely be arrested as soon as possible, ” she added.

The attempt is also coming barely two weeks after another of Governor Ortom’s aide on Security, Christopher Dega, was murdered in Jos.
