The campaign train of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, for the October 10 election in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede, has been attacked by some political thugs in Owo Local Government Area of the state.

The thugs had early on Tuesday blocked access to the palace of the monarch of Ipele Owo in a bid to deny the PDP candidate access, but were overpowered by security operatives.

The thugs were, however, successful in disrupting the PDP campaign rally in Owo town while the candidate, Jegede, was addressing his supporters.

There were sporadic gunshots with persons scampering to safety.

Owo is the hometown of the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This is the second time in two weeks that Jegede’s campaign train will be attacked.
