Ondo index case tests negative for COVID-19

The military officer who is the index case of Coronavirus in Ondo State has tested negative.

The officer had return to the Owena Barracks of the Nigerian Army After a trip to India in March 2020.

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, announced on Monday while addressing reporters in Akure,the state’s capital, that the first patients of the viral infection in the state is free to go home and live a normal life.

The Governor said the index case tested negative after two successful tests while his 22 contact have also tested negative.

The Governor also ordered compulsory use of face mask by all citizens of the state starting from Friday, April 24, 2020, to prevent community transmission of the disease.

With the latest development, Ondo State now has two confirmed cases of COVID-19.
