Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, with praise and worship, prepares the state-contingent for the 20th National Sports Festival Edo 2020 which turned to 2021 due to several postponements as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Governor Okowa at the pre-departure activity held at indoor session of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, charged the state representatives at the festival to bring back the cup to the state as its customary.
With the songs of praises and prayers from both the Governor and the clergy, Delta contingents for the 20th National Sports Festival are good to go as they fly the state flag by re-enacting what the outcome of the tournament would look like which is “victory for the state.”.
Governor Okowa, who relayed the outcome of the last sports festival held in Abuja where Delta State not only had victory but also did that with a huge margin, charged the team to put in their best and bring back the cup to the state
The Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Tonobok Okowa, said the absence of the state sports champions in the Edo Festival especially those on scholarship outside the country and other foreign-based preparing for the olympics will not work against the state rather new talents and stars would emerge.
As usual, Governor Okowa promised cash reward for every athletes that wins medal.
