As the once peaceful End SARS protest in Delta State goes awry resulting to hoodlums wrecking havoc, destroying, and burning government establishments, Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has imposed 48 hours curfew in the state to restore law and order.

Governor Okowa, in a statewide broadcast, said the curfew would commence evening today and announced closure of public and private primary and secondary schools in the state for two weeks.

The Governor in his broadcast regretted that the peaceful End SARS protest is now hijacked by suspected criminals, a development he said his government would not allow to degenerate into state of anarchy.

With an appeal to give the government time to address the burning issue raised, Governor Okowa commended the End SARS protesters for their peaceful way of expressing their grievances and urged parents and opinion groups to join hands in ensuring that peace returns to the state.

The Governor, who observed that a lot of robberies are taking place along the highways in the name of protest, expressed confidence that justice would be served at the end of the panel sitting and the youths, he pleads to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding.

He reminded the people that the much talked about reforms can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and security unlike the present state where movements were restricted, roads blocked, public buildings burnt, and destroyed.
