The frosty relations between Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole, appear to thaw.

In a letter written by Oshiomhole to Obaseki, the former governor congratulated Governor Obaseki over the Supreme Court ruling which upheld Obaseki’s reelection last year.

Oshiomhole acknowledged that all disputes arising from the election have now been laid to rest and càlled on Governor Obaseki to be magnanimous in victory, reminding him that he is the governor of all Edo people regardless of their political leanings.

He said contrary to what events may have suggested, their relationship had developed into one of the brothers of a different mother and referred to the disagreement between them as unfortunate, hinting that he has put the past behind him and moved on.

Governor Obaseki succeeded Oshiomhole as governor in November 2016 with the latter said to be the driving force behind his election victory on the platform of the then ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.

The relationship between the duo subsequently soured and by the September 2020 elections, Governor Obaseki defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, the platform on which he was re-elected for another four-year term.
