NSF Delta 2022: Diri Rewards Bayelsa Athletes

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has rewarded Bayelsa state athletes who made the state proud at the 2022 National Sports Festival in Asaba.

The State contingent finished second at the biennial event for the first time, a feat that took the nation by storm having surpassed the record set in 2006 in Benin City Edo State.

While receiving the athletes at the Executive Chambers in government house Yenagoa, Governor Diri said the performance of the athletes was indicative that the Prosperity mantra of his administration was not a fluke.

Diri announced a cash reward of one million naira to gold medalists, while team gold medalists got seven hundred thousand naira, the silver medalists five hundred thousand naira, and team silver athletes three hundred and fifty thousand naira each.

Bronze medalists were rewarded with three hundred thousand naira while team bronze medalists will go home with one hundred and fifty thousand naira each, gold medalist coaches and secretaries got five hundred thousand naira while assistant team officials will smile home with three hundred thousand naira.
