The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara State Command has arrested a 39-year-old man, Segun Oni for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC in the State, Iskil Makinde, disclosed this while briefing reporters on recent arrests made in the state.
Makinde noted that the suspect was arrested at Igbaja in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state having committed the crime under a mango tree.
The State Commandant, while expressing concerns over the rising cases of rape in Kwara State, noted that 17 cases have so far been treated at the Command in the last three months.
The Commandant, however, regretted the actions of some parents of the victims which he said has greatly hindered the prosecution process.
The suspect while admitting to committing the crime, pleaded guilty claiming he was under a spell.
Similarly, three other crime suspects have been arrested for theft of some iron rod worth several millions of naira at a construction site.
Meanwhile, the suspects are to be charged to court to face the consequences of their crime.
