Collaboration among state governments in the North-West zone is key in combating banditry and other forms of criminality.

This was the view expressed by speakers at the Zonal Conference of State Directors of Security, North-West, with a view of proferring solutions to insecurity in the zone.

It is the second time this year that Directors of State for Security, North-West, are meeting at a forum of this nature, to discuss issues bordering on security in the zone.

From the seven states that make up the North-West zone, these Directors of Security have converged on Kaduna, to have a robust discussion, on ways of tackling banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality, which is now the order of the day in the zone.

According to speakers at the security conference, intelligence gathering and sharing as well as interagency regional collaboration among state actors can be a game-changer, in addressing insecurity in the North-West, if properly harnessed.

The conference said in the face of the looming food crises since farmers are unable to go to their farms, knowledge sharing is now an urgent priority among the various security agencies, to strengthen intelligence gathering, to tackle and address insecurity in the zone, once and for all.
