Normalcy Returns To Billiri LGA After Tussle Over Seat Of Paramount Ruler

Normal activities have picked up in the Billiri Local Government Area days after the sectarian crisis that occurred over the tussle on the seat of a paramount traditional leader which led to the loss of lives and property.

This is due to the relaxation of the 24-hour curfew by the Gombe state government from 6 o’ clock in the morning to 2 o’ clock in the afternoon to enable reconciliation between adherents of the major religions in the local government.

The State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, maintained that he would name the new paramount leader for the people in Billiri once full normal activities return to the local government.

A time for reconciliation and dialogue, in Billiri Local Government as the state government with religious leaders initiate talks to resolve the sectarian crisis that changed the complexion of the transit town between Adamawa, Taraba, and Gombe.

The religious leaders on their part assured the state government of efforts to resolve their differences which led to the crisis.

Satisfied with the outcome, the state Governor thus announced the relaxation of curfew in the area.

The Nigerian Police on their part said they would deploy more resources to ensure that peace is sustained.

In a bid to restore confidence to individuals plying the roads in the local government, the state Governor briefly conducted the traffic on the roads.

The Governor maintained that his government would announce the new paramount traditional ruler once peace returns to the area.
