Members of the Non-Teaching Staff unions, NASU, of primary and secondary schools have embarked on a protest to demand equal treatment with teaching staff in the latest larges by Federal Government.

At a rally in Abuja, the workers said the 40 years of service and 65 years retirement age approved for teachers by President Muhammadu Buhari last year should be extended to non-teaching staff.

The rally is ongoing in 36 states of the federation.

President Buhari during the 2020 Teachers’ Day, had announced through the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, several packages for teachers to make the profession more attractive.

Among the packages is a special consideration for teachers posted to rural areas, sponsorship of children of teachers, special accommodation among others.
