President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the emergency procurement of critical equipment for troops in the northeast, in line with the presidency’ s current government to government procurement policy.

Minister Of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali made this known at the Army and Navy Council Meeting held at the Ministry Of Defence on Monday.

The Presidency also directed the enhancement of troops welfare package, especially those in operational areas.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has further been asked to remain in the northeast until the security situation in the region improves.

The Defence and Army Chiefs are to change the operational commands in Operation Lafiya Dole in the northeast; Operation Sharan Daji in Katsina and Zamfara states, Delta Safe in the Niger Delta and Awatse in the South West.

This to enable them to meet up with current challenges in their areas of responsibility.
