Anthony Joshua, the Nigerian-born British world heavyweight champion, is on the list of those to be honored by  Queen Elizabeth II of England.

AJ, as he is fondly called, is to be decorated as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). The OBE is a queen’s honour given to an individual for a major role in any activity such as business, sports, charity or public sector.

Joshua is not entirely new to the Queen’s honours: In 2013, received the  Member of the British Empire (MBE) medal for the gold medal he won at the 2012 London Olympics Games.

The 28-year-old Anthony Joshua, who fights under the British flag, is being rewarded for his services to boxing after defeating Joseph Parker in their March unification clash in Cardiff. He currently holds the World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation, and World Boxing Organisation titles.
