The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, has warned its personnel and miscreants to stay away from polling centres because it had uncovered a plot by some miscreants in military uniforms to cause mayhem at polling centres.
In a statement signed by its Deputy Director, Public Relations, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, it said measures had been put in place to ensure that such miscreants and erring personnel were identified and arrested adding that soldiers would only be allowed within the vicinity of any polling area in order to quickly attend to any breach of security.
“We wish to use this medium to warn all troublemakers to have a change of mind and action as our troops will not tolerate any act by anyone to truncate the electoral process.”
Meanwhile, the Division of the Nigerian Army, which covers Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Delta States, says it would on Thursday conduct a confidence building patrol within the Port Harcourt metropolis.
