The Nigerian Government says it has recorded over 2056 cases of fire incidents in the year 2020 alone.
Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola gave this revelation in Akure, Ondo state capital on Monday at the commissioning of a fire-Fighting truck.
The minister noted that while over one trillion naira worth of asset have been destroyed,Seven hundred and twenty four lives have been saved during fire incidents by men of the fire service.
Aregbesola who cautioned against indiscriminate bush burning to avert fire disaster in the dry season encouraged Nigerians to be committed to preventing, mitigating and quelling of fire outbreak.
Earlier, the Controller-General, Federal fire service, Dr Liman Ibrahim said the Agency is Willing to collaborate with State Government to reduce the growing cases of Fire outbreak across the country.
