Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, says he might consider legal action over what he calls he invasion of his private residence by President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Ayuba Wabba and members of the union.
The face-off between the NLC and the minister degenerated recently when members of the union staged a protest at Ngige ‘s Asokoro residence in Abuja, following disagreements over the leadership of the National Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF.
Ngige, who dismissed as misleading reports that he hired thugs to harass the labour leaders, said their action on Wednesday runs contrary to labour laws.
The Labour Minister insisted on going ahead with the inauguration of the newly constituted board of the NSITF despite labour’s rejection of the move.
Ngige denied reports that he was summoned to the Villa by President Buhari over the matter, saying he was in the state house for a routine meeting.
