Iran shuns Nucleasr Deal Negotiations with the United States, EU
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani

Members of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear deal, have met for the first time since the United States of America pulled out of the deal on May 8, 2018.

At Iran’s request, delegates from China, Russia, France, Britain, Germany and the European Union met on Friday in Austria’s capital, Vienna, where they reaffirmed their commitment to the 2015 deal.

Iran’s deputy foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, told reporters in Vienna that Tehran was negotiating with the other signatories to see if they can provide them with a package which can give Iran the benefits of sanctions lifting.

The Iranian government is apprehensive about the prospect of a deal that is sufficiently in Iran’s interest.

Araghchi went further to say that he told the conference that the nuclear pact is in the intensive care unit because it has lost its balance as a result of the withdrawal of the US from the deal.
