New Orleans Pelicans wins 2019 NBA draft lottery

The New Orleans Pelicans won the draft lottery and will pick first in the 2019 NBA Draft scheduled for the 20th of June. 

The Pelicans now have a great opportunity to select Duke freshman forward, Zion Williamson at No. 1, just as they did with Anthony Davis in 2012 when they had the top pick.

Having secured top pick, the Pelicans are optimistic that it could influence All-Star guard, Anthony Davis to stay put with the team.

The Memphis Grizzlies have the number 2 pick while the trio of New York Knicks, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Cleveland Cavaliers have the third, fourth and fifth picks respectively.

Asides Zion Williamson, other prospects to be drafted among the lottery picks include, RJ Barrett, Ja Morant, Coby White, De’Andre Hunter, Jarrett Culver and Darius Garland.
