The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has debunked allegation that the Interim Management Committee, IMC, awarded contracts worth over 200 billion Naira in the past two months.

The Director Corporate Affairs NDDC, Charles Odili, while clarifying the allegation at the Commission’s Headquarters in Port Harcourt, said the jabs against the IMC is due to their resolve to pursue the forensic audit of the commission.

Barely a week after the IMC of the NDDC led by the Acting Managing Director, Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei, handed over document from the project verification exercise to the forensic auditors, the NDDC has been at the receiving end of media attacks, especially from the online media.

One of such allegations is the fraudulent award of contact valued over N200 billion within two months by the IMC.

Odili said the Commission awarded contract for the purchase of COVID-19 kits as parts of measure to support the fight against the dreaded disease in the region.

The NDDC Director Corporate Affairs also said despite the unwarranted and fabricated allegation, the IMC is determined to pursue the forensic audit.

He, however, urged the people of the Niger Delta to remain calm, as members of the NDDC IMC would not shy away from its responsibility of repositioning the Commission.
