Latest reports from the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics reveals that the rate of unemployment in the country has risen to 27.1% in the second quarter of 2020 from its previous 23.1% recorded in the third quarter of 2018.

The report released earlier today showed that the unemployment rate among young people went up by 34.9% from 29.7% while the rate of underemployment went up from 25.7% to 28.2% within the same time period.

Imo State is leading with the highest rate of unemployment, closely followed by Akwa-Ibom and Rivers State with 48.7%, 45.2% and 43.7% respectively while Anambra recorded the lowest rate of unemployment at 13.1%
