Japan’s first grand slam winner and 2018 US Open winner, Naomi Osaka, is set to sign the biggest deal Adidas has ever made with a female athlete, reportedly worth $11.9 million annually.
Although currently an Adidas athlete, Osaka only earns a reported “six-figure” salary which will expire this year.
If the deal sees the light of the day, it will eclipse the record deal of Nike with Maria Sharapova in 2010, which was a 10-year contract worth an estimated $97.6 million – the most lucrative female sports contract ever.
It will also propel Osaka upwards on the Forbes’ 2018 list of highest paid female athletes.
