Naomi Osaka has responded to reports suggesting that she will not be taking part in this year’s US open over coronavirus fears. The 2018 US open champion has now said, she will take part in the competition.
The confirmation was made by her management. The 22-year-old will also feature at the western and southern open, which is staged annually in Cincinnati but will take place in New York this year in mid-August.
It was rumoured that Osaka had not registered to play in the US Open after it was reported that world number one Ashleigh Barty had withdrawn. US-based Osaka last played competitive tennis when she represented Japan in February during the federation’s cup qualifiers against Spain.
