Naira Marley and his comment about Yahoo boys has divided Nigerians in a controversial way on social media.

It all started after he shared message which tries to justified internet fraudsters aka Yahoo boys by saying that it is only a payback for what their ancestors suffered during the transatlantic slave trade.

His comment didn’t sit well with rapper Ruggedman and social media influencer Tunde Ednut who pointed out the wrong in it.

Not bothered by their statement, Naira Marley shared a video which shows him urging Nigerians to pray for Yahoo boys.

“All you guys, all the money in your pockets, all the money you spend, you think it’s the government that is making the money go round?
You better sit down and pray for yahoo boys. If them stop yahoo, the money would not pass you guys”, he said.

He added: “The money will go like this, from Obasanjo to Tinubu, from Tinubu to Mr Japa, you think me I need Yahoo?
I make money from my music.”

The video has created a controversy which has rendered Nigerians divided on the matter. See tweets below.

@DrOlufunmilayo “Naira Marley is a disgraceful Nigerian specimen.Imagine publicly defending fraud and being daft to think Yahoo scams help the economy. When you travel and you are treated like a criminal for no reason just because you are Nigerian, you will realise the extent of this damage.”

@AyoShonaiya “On this Naira Marley and his stupid comments on Yahoo Yahoo, you have to understand he’s from a generation of Nigerians who don’t know any different. It’s not just him. There are millions of young Nigerians who believe Fraud is not a crime. They think everything na hustle.”

@Favoredsinner “I’m not surprised about Naira Marley issue.90% of Nigeria musicians are only cleaning their fraud money with Music.
Sometimes I wonder how you released one song that we downloaded for free and get to buy houses and cars with it.”

@666_Notradamus “Yahoo might have helped naira marley but not our economy. Also, not everyone has benefitted from yahoo. So, if you have, do not rope others in. ”

@Mrseptin911 “Naira Marley is not only a shame to the music industry, but also a shame to Nigeria! This should not be taken lightly by the FG. There can never be any justification for ‘Yahoo’, it is illegal and should be curbed!

@Itutu1491 “Unfortunately, Naira Markey just said the truth.Even the government of today is yahoo personified the bad aspect of theirs is that they don’t bring money to Nigeria ,they take it abroad.”
