NAF Targets 4,000 In Benue Medical Outreach

The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has targeted 4, 000 patients in its five-day free medical outreach programme geared towards meeting the medical needs of the people of Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

Air Commodore Usman Abdulahi , who represented the  Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, kicked off the program on Friday noting that critical cases would be referred to i for detailed medical attention.

Kicking off the free medical outreach, the representative of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Commodore Usman Abdulahi, said the outreach is part of the Nigerian Air Force’s humanitarian effort to sustain its community relations and responsibilities.

“This medical outreach is designed to provide free medical care to the host Agatu community by bringing quality health services to their door steps.

“A medical outreach of this magnitude has a way of alleviating the suffering of the people who might not have access to quality medical care.

 Director Public Health and Human Services, Captain Azubiki Chukwuka, gave an insight into the targeted number of patients as well as surgeries the program is expected to capture .

Chukwuka explained that they had already attended to over 300 patients adding that they would also provide treated mosquito nets and 100 eye glasses to patients in need.

He said the most prevalent ailments were malaria, malnutrition, worm, among others.

Chairman, Agatu Traditional Council Chief, Godwin Onah, commended the Nigerian Air Force for providing the free general medical care service to his subjects.

Comrade Yahaya Amadu,  a beneficiary, said that he has been suffering from eye and chest pain for a long time but could not get medication because of lack of funds.

Amadu, who was treated and given an eye glass, thanked NAF for coming to his aid.
