Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders hand over suspected kidnappers to police

The Commissioner of Police in Taraba State, Abimbola Sokoya, has confirmed that the police have taken into custody, six suspected kidnappers handed over by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in the state.

The police said it has commenced investigating the suspects and called on persons with vital information on the incessant kidnappings, and other criminal activities in the state to open up.

On July 20, 2021, the Emir of Muri in Taraba State, Abbas Tafida, accused the Fulani of Bororo extraction of harbouring kidnappers and criminals in the state.

The Emir went further to give a 30-day ultimatum to their local chiefs to expose the culprits or face the music.

Few days after the deadline, the Taraba State Police Commissioner said the police have taken into custody, six suspected kidnappers exposed by repentant kidnappers and handed them over to the police by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association.

The Taraba State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders said the suspected kidnappers are not of Fulani extraction.

He hinted that the association has inaugurated a committee that will fish out kidnappers and other criminal elements amongst his people.

The Commissioner of Police, who is newly deployed to Taraba State, said that synergy with the locals at the grassroots will be his strategy in combating insecurity in the state.
