The Europe based digital rights agency for independent record labels Merlin Network appointed Micheal Ugwu to represent Africa.

This is such good news that a Nigerian for the first time is appointed into the board to represent Africa as previously, this position was occupied by South Africans.

The owner of Freeme Digital Nigeria’s pioneer online digital music distributor Micheal Ugwu is set to represent Africa after his appointment as one of the 15 members on the board. Ugwu is excited about this as much as every other Nigerian put out that this is a big leap for Nigeria’s music industry.

Ugwu who was once under Sony Music Entertainment West before moving to Freeme Digital has worked so hard over the years and even bagged big musical deals for really famous musicians in Nigeria. The likes of Davido and Wizkid.

Just like Ugwu, we are excited that the Nigerian Music industry is gathering recognition globally. The industry deserves so much of this because of the sweat, time put into work and the amount of undiluted talent in the industry.                                                                                                                                                                                                             “As far as the Nigerian music industry is concerned, Freeme Digital remains committed to the rights and opportunities of Independents and their artists. And we will continue to expand the scope of opportunities and the frontiers of digital music for the emerging generation of independents and artists in Nigeria and across Africa.”

Freeme Digital has the largest music studio in Nigeria.
