Dr Ashitey Trebi Ollenu, the Ghanaian Scientist who led the team that built InSight – the spacecraft which is expected to investigate life in Mars, listen for marsquakes and proffer insight about the planet’s formation.

He currently serves as the Chief Engineer of Robotics at the NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab. He had the dream to build robotic components as a child and moved to the United Kingdom where he completed his Bachelors in Engineering Avionics at the Queen Mary College, the University of London in 1991.

He then went on to attain his PhD in Control Systems Engineering from Cranfield University also in the United Kingdom. Dr Ollenu is also the founder of the Ghana Robotics Academy Foundation which is inspired to motivating young Ghanaians to pursue careers in STEM via hands-on competitions and workshops.
