Medical Practitioners warn against unhealthy Lifestyle

Today marks World Hypertension Day and it is observed globally every May 17th to raise awareness and promote hypertension prevention, detection and control.

This is to counter the number of people living with high blood pressure worldwide which has doubled over the last 40 years, with the problem shifting from wealthy western countries to the developing world. 

High blood pressure is the leading cause of heart disease and stroke, killing around 7.5 million people worldwide every year.

“Know your numbers” is the theme for this year. Its purpose is to raise awareness worldwide about the importance of knowing what is your blood pressure measurement.

In Lagos, Plus Tv Africa spoke with Doctor Adedeji Jesutomipe who advised against excessive salt intake, alcohol and tobacco. He encouraged eating fruits and exercising regularly.
