Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Usani has addressed speculation of his resignation ahead of governorship election.

Usani, who is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Cross River said he would not resign his position as Buhari’s minister in order to participate in Saturday’s governorship election.

He insisted that he would participate in Saturday’s election and emerge victoriously.

Sani said this in a statement signed by Director-General of Usani Campaign Organization, Ekpenyong Cobham, on Tuesday

The statement read: “Pastor Usani Usani cannot resign his post as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs in order to take part in Saturday’s governorship election in Cross Rivers State.

“Usani would still stand for the election as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) despite subsisting legal uncertainties.

“Pastor Usani cannot resign his appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic because the court is yet to decide on the matter.

“Meanwhile, he as the true candidate of the APC in the state is free to contest and will win the election on Saturday, March 9.”

You will recall that a Court of Appeal, sitting in Calabar, had refused an oral application brought by a factional Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, John Ochala, for a stay of execution of a Federal High Court judgment recognizing Godwin Etim John’s faction as the state executive in Cross River State.

Delivering judgment, Justice Mojeed Owoade insisted that Pastor Usani remains APC governorship candidate.
