The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the death of a young man who jumped and hid inside a well to evade Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arrest in Jos, the state capital.

The Command, through its spokesperson, ASP Gabriel Ubah, confirmed the incident to reporters on Sunday, February 7, but did not disclose the identity of the young man.

The yet-to-be-identified young man was confirmed dead after he was brought out of a well in the Farin Gada area, a suburb of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state.

As a result, the ECWA Staff community was thrown into confusion following the incident, while six flatmates of the deceased were said to be arrested and taken away by the operatives of the EFCC.

Efforts to speak with any family member of the deceased was unsuccessful as none of them was willing to speak but a community member who pleaded anonymity said his legs were broken as a result of the high jump, which could have led to his collapsed inside the well, where he entered to hide.

At the time of filing this report, the state Police command has launched an investigation into the matter after evacuating the corpse from the scene of the incident.
