Libya’s Prime Minister, Fayez al-Sarraj has proclaimed that his rival General Khalifa Haftar in making plans to take over Libya by staging a coup according to France 24 Television.
Haftar allegedly leads a rival government in Eastern Libya, his troops moved against Al-Sarraj’s government last month but were unable to take possession of the capital.
Civilians have condemned the unrest clamouring for peace to reign. an estimated 440 people have lost their lives and many others fled their homes due to the unrest.
Humanitarian Aid groups have mentioned that the fighting may lead to a new refugee crisis as civilians try to escape the country migrating to Europe, there is also the possibility of Islamic State taking advantage of the chaos.
