Lawmakers assure Nigerians of doing justice in reviewing 1999 Constitution

The North Central Zone House of Representatives Special Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution has assured Nigerians of doing justice to every paper presented.

The Committee led by its Chairman and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase, gave the assurance at the commencement of the Public hearing in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.

The Jos Center for the Public Hearing has in attendance people from Benue, Nassarawa, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

In his address, Wase assured the people of providing a level playing ground to every submission.

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, who declared the meeting open, said that it is time to build a united Nigeria.

Top amongst issues presented by the representatives of Benue, Nassarawa, Plateau, and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja are the issues of 35 per cent representation of women in power, electoral reforms, decentralization of power, restructuring, state police, prohibition of open grazing, and the issue of citizenship amongst others.

Such a meeting is not new to Nigerians, however, citizens are hopeful that this time, the review will address the many challenges being faced by the nation.
