The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has appealed to members of the public to observe all precautionary measures, especially the social distance principle to stop the spread of Coronavirus in Nigeria, and be able to cut down on the 39,000 projected cases to 13,000 in the state.

The Commissioner, who was speaking during an update about the patients on board a marine vessel who tested positive to Coronavirus and how they are being managed, said there are indications that the virus is  beginning to spread at a community level given a case of about two people who cannot really tell how they got infected.

The Commissioner also said that some patients are about to be discharged after they successfully completed their treatment and certified free of the virus.

He also noted that the state is working to handle the influx of nigerians stranded abroad who are now coming into the country through the land boarders following the closure of the airports.

The Commissioner advised people not go to patronise public or private facilities where rapid test for Coronavirus are being conducted to avoid complicating issues.

Lagos State currently has 44 confirmed Coronavirus cases in addition to the seven patients that came with the marine vessel.

At least two of the Coronavirus cases in Lagos State have been treated and discharged with one dead.
