The Lagos State Ministry of Environment on Saturday began the clean-up of an illegal dumpsite at Coconut Area of Apapa, to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment.

Commissioner for Environment, Mr Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti during the exercise, said the mope up would last for five days, after which bins would be placed at strategic locations in the area.

Meanwhile, The Corp Marshal, Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, ACP Daniel Isiofia announced that a building located in the clean-up area has been sealed off for an environmental infraction.

According to Isiofia, the building was sealed off because there were faeces in the drainage and ship machine that had been abandoned in front of the building for two years.

He said that the occupants of the building located on No 2, Egbayelo Street, Olodi Apapa were served notice two weeks ago.
