Kwara State Governor donates 10 months salary to fight COVID-19

The Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has repprtedly donated his 10 months salary in fighting the spread of the coronavirus in the country.

According to Abdulrahman, since his swearing-in May 2019 as the Governor of Kwara State, he has not received any Salary from the government.

Following this, he has decided to give the accumulated unpaid salary to the fight of the pandemic disease, to support those who may find it hard to feed during this stay home order and also to increase the capacity to cope with the novel coronavirus if it ever comes to Kwara State.

He stated that the situation faced by the country requires support from everyone. He then commended Lai Mohammed the Minister of Information and Culture and also Gbemisola Saraki who is part of the ministers that donated part of their salary to this cause.

He also thanked the CEO of the United Bank Africa for his donation to Kwara State.

Palliatives which include foodstuff will be shared with people in Kwara State following the stay home order especially to the vulnerable to help them cope through these trying times.

The Governor urged wealthy people in Kwara State also to donate into Kwara Technical Committee to help the state. Although Kwara State has no confirmed case of the virus, measures are put in place to prevent the outbreak in the state.
