The new governor of Kwara State Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq stated that his Deputy governor now lives in a rented house as a result of the past administration under Abdulfatai Ahmad selling out several properties as many as 110 which included the current house of his deputy.

He also talked about the state left with insufficient funds as a high percentage of 75% of the allocation from the federal government to the state is sunk into the payment of salaries. The governor revealed that he discussed this issue with the president after their meeting in Aso rock.

He put out that the state is looking into focusing on Agriculture to salvage the situation and also raise more revenue to the state. He also reportedly discussed other issues with the President, he put out that the state is in need of salvaging and help. He also mentioned on the deplorable educational sector in Kwara State as the four colleges of Educations went on strike for 12 months.

All indications according to the Governor points that Kwara suffered terrible luck from the hands of the past administration, not only was the state on the blacklist of UBEC, but it is also owing it’s teachers as much as ₦750 million which has been sorted by the present administration. He, therefore, pleaded that Kwara State needs Federal help to come out of the dark abyss of a poor economy.

UNICEF also no longer works with Kwara State and billions of money are needed in Kwara to fund polio and malaria according to the current administration. The present administration is moving to push Kwara to a better state. The state lacked basic amenities before the present administration assumed office, but now they have running water in Ilorin and other towns in Kwara State. This is a step in the right direction.

Surprisingly as it is not a common occurrence for the present administration to not change workers of the past administration, the governor put that no worker has been sacked or laid off and even cooks I the governor’s office still work there.

The Deputy governor currently lives in a rented apartment as the house of the deputy governor was sold and the proceedings shared amongst the past administration. He further went on to say.
