Kwara: NDLEA Blames High Rate Of Drug Abuse On Poor Funding Of Agency

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kwara State Command has attributed the fast rising rate in the abuse of illicit psychotropic / narcotics substances in the state to poor funding of the agency.

The Acting Commander of the Command, Odewale Adebimpe gave the revelation during a press briefing in Ilorin the Kwara State capital ahead of the 2023 United Nations drug free day.

Between January and december 2022 359 males and 61 females were arrested for drug abuse offences while 6526.789kilogram of seizures were made with 44 conviction while the figure of the conviction has moved to 57 in the first six months of 2023.

The Command and the state committee on drugs control vowed to continue to do all within their powers to bring drug abuse to a stand still in the state.
