Kidney Research Center: Nigeria Medical Center Kicks Against Bill At Public Hearing

The Nigeria Medical Centre has kicked against a bill to establish a Federal Nephrology and Kidney Research and Treatment Centre, Hadejia.

President of the NMC, Dr Uche Ojinma suggested that preventive research should be the core focus instead of treatment which is usually at a near fatal stage.

He stated this alongside other medical professionals during a one day public hearing at the Senate wing of the National Assembly.

Meanwhile a Bill to Establish Federal Medical centre Okigwe which has passed second reading in the floor of the Senate has been amended to be the Establishment of Federal Orthopedic Hospital Ihitte, Ihitte Uboma LGA, Imo State.

Senator Frank Ibezim who sponsored the Bill disclosed that the amendment was necessitated because a similar Bill has been passed by the House of Representatives sponsored by Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha, and has advanced to the concurrence stage in the Senate.
