Kano state ministry of health has asked parents to bring children for routine polio vaccination to maintain Nigeria’s polio free status.

Commissioner for health, Dr. Aminu Tsanyawa said 3.2 million children are targeted for the vaccination that will start on Saturday in all 44 local government areas.

The commissioner warns that the devastating impact of covid-19 pandemic affecting vaccination program around the globe should not be allowed to increase spread of other life threatening infectious diseases.

Tsanyawa said because of covid-19 spread and the need to observe safety protocols, no formal ceremony for the flag off of the vaccination, urging communities to maintain personal hygiene.
