Kano State Government has instituted Criminal Charges against the Daily Nigerian for defaming Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The legal action follows a video footage released by the news platform on Thursday. On the video which went viral on social media, Ganduje is seen receiving $5,000 bribe from some contractors handling projects in Kano State.

In a statement signed by the commissioner for Information, Mallam Muhammad Garba the contents read that the Kano Assembly alleges the Video was cloned and mischievously doctored to portraying Ganduje receiving gratification from unidentified persons.
The Statement further read that the callous attempt of the Publishing firm to tarnish the image of the office and the person of Governor Ganduje would not be tolerated.
