The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission, KADSIECOM, has shifted the June 5th local government election to Saturday, 14th August.

Addressing the stakeholders at a news conference in Kaduna, on the reasons for the postponement, the Overseer of the Commission, Ibrahim Sambo, blamed politicians for interfering with the Commission’s arrangements.

He said that while June 5 is not feasible, the Commission remains committed to conducting a free, fair, and credible election.

Sambo said that the Commission will employ ad-hoc staff for the election based on the minimum qualification of National Diploma, who will be subjected to the written examination.

Some of the political party representatives said they are pleased with the new date but want KADIECOM to be neutral in the course of the polls.
