The Integrity Friends for Truth and Peace Initiative, TIFPI, says the ongoing nationwide strike of the judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, and their parliamentary workers are constitutionally justified and apt.

This was stated in a statement issued on Monday by the Executive Director of TIFPI, Livingstone Wechie, while expressing concerns over the ongoing strike of JUSUN.

Wechie hinted that it is important that the financial and administrative independence of the judicial system should be truly enforced so as to help curb the level of executive interference and manipulation the judiciary is subjected to.

While he wants judges to be insulated and distilled from the direct and daily administrative running of the judiciary affairs, he also wants the budget of the judiciary to come separately from the Judicial Service Commission for both the federation and states to the legislature.
