Joseph Wayas: Senate Seeks Endorsement Of Red Chamber To Take Over Burial Arrangements

The remains of Senator Joseph Wayas the late Senate President in the Second Republic between 1979 and 1983 is yet to be buried 16 months after his death. The Cross River State Government had inaugurated a funeral committee to plan for his burial.

A year after and counting, the late Wayas has yet to be laid to rest.
The petition was raised by a Lawmaker representing Cross River South, Senator Geshom Bassey seeking the endorsement of the Red Chamber to take over the burial arrangements of the late Wayas.

The Lawmakers have described the situation as not only appalling but a National embarrassment calling for urgent intervention.

A minute’s silence was also observed for the late wife of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu who recently passed on 3rd of April, 2023.
