Hundreds of people have gathered near the south of France this weekend to protest against the construction of a highway.
Opponents like farmer Victor Lobau, 25, say the highway is bad for the environment and unnecessary. His fields will be destroyed by its construction.
With a length of 57 kilometers, the motorway between Castres and Toulouse would save between 20 and 40 minutes of travel according to estimates, and reduce traffic on a national road which crosses villages.
Work has begun to implement this project, which dates back to 2006.
