Officials, for now, have confirmed that 35 people have fallen to their deaths after a section of a motorway bridge collapsed in the Northwest Italian City of Genoa.

Emergency workers are still trying to free people caught in crushed vehicles or rubble, and are using sniffer dogs.

Italy’s Transport Minister, Danilo Toninelli described the incident as an “immense tragedy”.

Meanwhile, French President, Emmanuel Macron has taken to Twitter, writing in both Italian and French to condole with the people of Italy and said his country will offer any necessary aid.
