IOM, Canadian govt. donate equipment to beef up NIS border management activities

The International Organization for Migration, IOM, has donated about 63 new Migration Information and Data Analysis System, MIDAS, technical equipment to the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS.

The equipment which was procured by the Canadian government is in furtherance of their collaboration with the Nigerian government to strengthen security and migrant information management at its borders.

In a brief handing over ceremony at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the IOM Chief of Mission, represented by IOM Nigeria Immigration, and Border Management Programme’s Coordinator, Yuki Daizumoto, stated that the gesture by the IOM and the Canadian government is geared towards ensuring a synchronized data system to assist the NIS to build a more robust information system among others.
